A 24-year old woman has been taken into custody after an accident that led to the wrongful death of the passenger in the car. The accident took place earlier this month on 91st and Capitol Street in Milwaukee

The driver was allegedly speeding when she lost control of her car, which crashed into a tree located in the median of the road. The car was totaled. The passenger in the car, a 34-year old woman, died at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries, and was later taken to the hospital for treatment. Police are investigating the cause and details of the accident. The woman was later arrested as a result of outstanding warrants for her arrest. She was later charged with two counts: homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle (prohibited alcohol concentration).

If convicted, the woman is facing 25 years in prison an up to $100,000 in fines, according to Fox 6 Now's website. It was also reported this week that the woman will undergo a mental evaluation.

People in the area have reportedly voiced concerns about excessive speeding that is far too common in the area. When a car crashes into a structure such as a tree when traveling at a high rate of speed, tragedy can result. A picture posted to Fox 6 Now's website shows the totaled car wrapped around the tree in the median. It was a horrific crash that never should have happened.
