A 36-year-old Wausau man was taken into custody by Wisconsin State Patrol for fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run car accident over the weekend. The man turned himself into police on Sunday after fleeing the scene of a two-car accident he caused Saturday evening in the town of Maine, Wis.
According to a recent news report and a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Kenneth Bloom drove into oncoming traffic while attempting a left turn from Highway U onto 28th Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. While attempting the turn, Bloom's vehicle was struck by an oncoming pickup truck. After the car accident, police report that Bloom fled the scene on foot.
Authorities and fire department personnel searched the area and town of Maine for Bloom for nearly 2 1/2 hours after the car accident.
Bloom's passenger and the driver of the pickup truck were both taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The names of those injured in the car accident are not being released by police officials and their current conditions are not available to the public.
After turning himself into police on Sunday, Bloom faces charges of failing to notify police of a crash, hit-and-run and causing injury in a crash.
